The Frustration That Sparked a Idea
A few years ago, our team — Mike, a weekend golfer who struggled to fit course time into his busy work schedule; Lisa, a beginner who hated the pressure of playing in front of strangers at public courses; and Tom, a seasoned player who grew tired of canceling tee times due to rain, snow, or sweltering heat — sat around a table after a canceled round, venting our frustrations.

One of our biggest challenges was the impact screen. We tested over 10 different fabrics, from cheap polyester to high-end composites, before settling on a 3-layer, 4mm-thick 3D mesh material. We wanted it to withstand real golf balls traveling at speeds up to 200 mph, and we wanted it to last. So we put it to the test: hitting it over and over, 100,000 times, to make sure it wouldn’t tear, stretch, or lose its shape. When it passed with flying colors, we knew we had something special.
Then there was the assembly problem. We hated the idea of asking friends or family for help just to set up a simulator. So our engineers spent months reworking the frame design — ditching heavy stainless steel for a lightweight aluminum frame that’s strong but easy to handle. We tested it with people of all ages and strengths, from Lisa (who’s 5’4” and has never assembled furniture before) to Tom (a former construction worker). When Lisa was able to set it up alone in 30 minutes, we knew we’d solved the assembly nightmare.
